At Sunshine Day Nursery we value parent’s contribution. We encourage parents to support their children in their education and we are also happy to give advice and support with any matters at hand.

Tapestry is a secure online learning journal helping staff and families celebrate their children’s learning and development.

Tapestry builds a very special record of a child’s experiences, development and learning through their early years, using photos, videos, observations and diary entries.

Parents are able to view online their child’s progress and how much fun they’re having, whilst also uploading their own comments and media.

The communication between staff and parents that Tapestry enables, helps build a shared understanding of how every child can reach their full potential during the early years.

Sharing information

While your child is with us at nursery we will document their story in their learning journals, and we think it is important to share these stories with you so we plan coffee mornings. These coffee mornings give your child’s key worker the opportunity to share your child’s learning journey with you discuss the progress children are making and answer any questions you may have. We also share information regularly with parents thorough newsletters, our website and facebook page.

Meals

If your child is receiving day care meals are included in the cost. Or if your child is receiving their 15 hours of education and you would like them to have a hot healthy dinner or tea, they can be purchased for a small fee. All meals are freshly prepared on the premises using seasonal locally sourced ingredients and all dietary requirements can be catered for. Our menus rotate over a three weekly basis, and are healthy and well-balanced avoiding large quantities of fat, sugar and salt, artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives.

Sunshine Club for School Aged Children
We have limited places, so priority is given to siblings, previous users, and to our children who have recently gone to school.

Afterschool Club £10.00- per session 3.00-5.30pm or £11 - 3.00-5.45pm
Holiday Club £28.00 - full day - 8.00-5.30pm | £17.00 -Half Day - 8.00 -1.00pm (children need to bring a packed lunch)
Extra Hours Late charge 5.45-6.00pm - £5.00 then £1.00 per minute after 6pm
Early opening available at O' Neill Drive from 7.30 am 7.30-8.00am - £6.00 and from 7.45am - 8.00am - £3.00
Please Note: Our preferred method of payment is standing order or childcare vouchers. We also have a card reader and payments can be taken in the office or over the phone.

FAQ's

Information about funding and help towards the cost of childcare

My child is nearly 3 years old, when will they be entitled to a free nursery place?

All three- and four-year-olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education the term after their third birthday. Some children may be eligible for the extended 30 hours of free nursery education depending on their circumstances.

What days/ sessions can my child do once they are eligible?

At Sunshine Day Nursery we are very flexible in the way hours are allocated. Sessions can be taken over two to five days. We will always do our best to suit your needs. This doesn’t cost any extra, however, If your child does do longer days a small fee will be applicable when they stay for dinner or tea.

Could we book any extra days/ hours if needed?

For an additional fee your child can be booked in extra days/ hours.

Do you have any funded places for younger children

Funded places are now available for eligible children from the age of 9 months.  You can check if you are eligible on the childcare choices website.

If my child is eligible for a funded place when can they start?

If you qualify for a free funded place, your child could take up their ‘play and learn’ sessions the term after their 2nd birthday; they will be entitled to 15 free hours each week.

Ask for an application form from one of our venues and post it to the address indicated on the form or drop it off at nursery and we will send it off for you. We will be happy to help you apply and answer any questions you may have when you come to make an enquiry.

As a working parent can I claim tax credits?

If you require a childcare place for your child at any of our venues and you are currently in employment you can either claim childcare vouchers or the childcare element of working tax credits. (but not both)

How do childcare vouchers work?

If you are in employment your employer can provide you with childcare vouchers which can be used towards the cost of qualifying childcare. The amount you can receive in childcare vouchers without having to pay tax or NICs will depend on when you joined the scheme and it will also depend on the level of pay you receive from your employer.

At the moment two parents can claim up to £243 per month each in childcare vouchers.

How do tax credits work?

Tax credits are payments from the government. If you're responsible for at least one child or young person, you may qualify for child tax credit. If you work, but are on a low income, you may qualify for working tax credit. You can often get both types of tax credits. They aren't taxable.

Child tax credit is paid to you if you are responsible for at least one child or young person who normally lives with you. You need to check with working families tax to see if you are eligible
