The Government has asked all Local Authorities in the UK to publish information about the services and provision that is available in their area for children and young people from 0 to 25 who have Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability (SEND).
This is known as the Local Offer. Further information about our Local Offer can be found on the County Durham Families Information Service website.
About Special Educational Needs and Additional Needs
Special Educational Needs and/or Additional Needs are a range of conditions and circumstances that can result in children requiring specialist support at some stage in their lives.
Children with Special Educational Needs / Additional Needs may have:
- A physical disability
- A developmental delay
- A communication problem or disorder
- A diagnosed condition such as Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
